It’s only the 2nd day of class so I didn’t really learn anything I didn’t already know. But that’s ok, it gave me time to experiment a little in class and inspired me to experiment a little at home.

I somehow always knew Cy Twombly’s art would influence me in some way.\u00a0 I’m not talking about his paint or chalk scribbles, but his very large and nearly solid color canvas paintings.\u00a0 The Menil Collection here in Houston has an outbuilding dedicated just to Cy Twombly.<\/p>\n

This was me experimenting with color blending, just as one would with a real paintbrush.\u00a0 I didn’t really have a plan going into this – the picture just sort of created itself.\u00a0 Perhaps it’s the final hues of a day that’s about to end.\u00a0 Perhaps it’s a blurred closeup of Jupiter seen from space.\u00a0 Maybe it’s a red-hued scale showing that there are very few absolutes in this world – most is just a shade of one of the 2 extremes.\u00a0 Or, it may have just been a guy with some time to experiment a little with his computer drawing program thing-a-ma-jig.\u00a0 That’s the great thing about art – there is never 1 correct answer.<\/p>\n

Perhaps I can find a way to make something similar to the work of Mark Rothko.<\/p>\n

While this isn’t a photograph, this is part of my evolution.\u00a0 Does anyone have any comments?<\/p>\n
